Multi-Day Tours

America’s Pioneering Spirit (2 days/1 night)
This two-and-a-half day tour pays tribute to three generations of American pioneers. One a resourceful group of Scotch-Irish immigrants who settled in the Appalachian mountains; another who answered their country’s call and became atomic pioneers; and the final, a group of 12 high school students who were at the forefront of the American civil rights movement. You’ll visit the Museum of Appalachia, various Historic Manhattan Project sites, the Green-McAdoo Cultural Center along with other venues paying tribute to America’s pioneering spirit.

The Atomic Pioneers: In Their Own Words (1 1/2 days/1 night)
This one-day tour encompasses all things related to the Manhattan Project. You’ll hear first-hand accounts of what went on at the Y-12, X-10 and K-25 plants; what is was like to live in a city surrounded by a fence; and how the technology discovered during the birth of the “atomic age” continues to benefit the world today. This tour also includes a visit to the historic graphite reactor, a stop at Historic Jackson Square, the “Secret City’s” original town site, and a tour through several neighborhoods to view the famed “alphabet” houses.
